covid19-vs-bg-page-banner.png

Page Update: July 8th, 2020

Seeing the ongoing public health safety measures and for the benefit of your, and our own personal security, Beer Grains has decided to maintain our -online orders only- process and will continue to offer in-store pick-up as well.

You may process your order online at any time and pick-ups can be done between Monday to Friday: 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Saturday and Sunday: 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Please note that no phone or e-mail orders will be taken.

However, if you want your Co2 tank refilled, you can stop by at anytime.

The same instructions apply for online ordering.

Here's how it works:

1. You place your order via our website and choose "Pick-up in Store" at checkout.
2. Your order will be processed in the sequence it was received. Note that there is a 2 to 3 day turnaround to process orders.
3. Once your order is completed, you will receive an e-mail stating that you can pick-up your order.
4. Present yourself at the store to pick-up your order.

We thank you for your understanding.

We recommend using SM-Courrier for local shipment since they have a quicker turnaround delivery time than Canada Post. Although delivery delays are to be expected with Canada Post, the situation has greatly improved. Nevertheless, we highly recommend that you purchase ice packs if you are ordering liquid yeast strains.

Your Beer Grains Team.

The road blocks between Ottawa and Gatineau have been removed, so you should not have any problems crossing over to Gatineau.  Both Ontario and Québec governments want us to limit our travels to essentials only.  We still recommend using SM-Courrier or Canada Post.

OTTAWA CUSTOMERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO SHIP THERE ORDERS DUE TO ROAD BLOCKS  Beer Grains is not responsible if you get turned around at the Québec border.  Avoid frustrations and have your order shipped by SM-Courrier or Canada Post.

Note that no phone orders, e-mail order or in store orders will be taken.  ALL orders must be placed on the online store.  Customers ARE NOT allowed to roam free in the store.  Do not call to know when your order will be ready, you will receive an e-mail when your order is ready to be picked up.  Do not show up at the store hoping that we will process your order right away because we won't, you will have made the trip for nothing.  Avoid frustrations and follow the instructions above.

The Beer Grains team thank you for your understanding.  We will get through this and come out better brewers.  Please continue to support your local homebrew supply store.  We survived the 6 week closure of the retail store and we want to survive the partial reopening.  We can't wait to have all of you in our store bumping into one another again but for the mean time, we have to restrict access and continue the social distancing which is very hard to do in such a small store.

Page Update: April 25th, 2020

Beer Grains is experiencing a high order volume and with reduced staff, we have a 2 to 3 day delay in order processing.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.  Please note that Canada Post is having a high delivery volume so delays are expected.  If you are in the Ottawa / Gatineau area, you can use SM-Courrier for faster delivery.

Page Update: April 9th, 2020

Just a quick update on Beer Grains health.  Beer Grains is still healthy and so are the two employees.  As you know the retail store is closed but the online store is still open to receive your orders.  The retail store will remain closed until May 4th, 2020 as per the directives of the Québec government.  We will keep you informed if the situation changes.

Now for more good news, Beer Grains is experiencing an extremely high order volume since the retail store has shut down.  We are working very hard to get the orders out as fast as possible.  You can expect a delay of 48 hours before your order ships out.  Please be patient with us, we are working as fast as humanly possible but making sure to take a break at 3:00pm for a quick pint to keep our sanity and to keep going.

Beer Grains is receiving many orders from new customers that are just discovering our great brewing supply store.  We welcome our new customers and hope they will enjoy their shopping experience.  We noticed orders from customers who haven't placed an order in a few years.  This is always great to see.  Whether you are new to brewing, a new customer, a returning customer or a loyal customer, we want to thank all of you for your orders.  Beer Grains is still alive thanks to all your orders and continued support.  Thank you, thank you and also thank you.

Page Update: March 31st, 2020

Other brewing supply stores are reopening their doors to customers. With this pandemic, we should all be staying put. You go to the store only if necessary. It is very important not to spread this virus around. We at Beer Grains have made a decision and we hope that other homebrew supply stores will follow our example. Beer Grains retail store will remain closed until further notice. Our online store will remain open to take your orders.
As some of you know, Beer Grains is a family operated business with Athéna being at the store full time and Sylvain part time. If one of us has to be isolated, then both have to be isolated. If this happens Beer Grains would have to shut down for two weeks so that would mean no online orders. We want to stay healthy and keep the online store open through out this crisis. We hope you understand our choice and will continue to support us by placing your orders.

We thank all our new customers for there first order and trying out this wonderful homebrew supply store in the Ottawa-Gatineau area. Feel free to call us at any time or send and e-mail.

Athéna & Sylvain

No worries!!  Beer Grains is still healthy.  We want to thank everyone who has supported us in the past 2 weeks.  Continue to place orders. Your support is needed if Beer Grains is to survive this plague.  Many thanks to all of you.  Keep the orders coming and save this great little homebrew supply store.

Page Update: March 23rd, 2020

As of 12:00AM on March 23rd, 2020, the RETAIL STORE IS CLOSED.  No orders will be accepted by e-mail and no pick-ups in store will be possible.  The online store is still open.  You will need to choose Canada Post, FedEx or SM-Courrier.  We are experiencing a high order volume. A delay of 24 to 48 hours is to be expected for order processing.  There may be delays in delivery with Canada Post, FedEx and SM-Courrier.

The Quèbec government has shut us down for 3 weeks.  If all is well, the retail store will open on April 13th.  Until then order online and have it delivered.

Page Update: March 21st, 2020

Beer Grains is trying very hard to fight this plague that has all of us all paralyzed.  We are still open for business but like many businesses we are taking measures to reduce the human contact with our products and staff.

Retail Store

The retail store at 99 Crémazie, Gatineau is still open.  We have taken measure to reduce the exposure to our staff and products. We are disinfecting our customer counter and Interac machine after every customer.  Chairs and doors are being disinfected several times a day.

We are encouraging our customers to place orders online and picking them up in store.  You can also send us an e-mail at info@beergrains.com and have your order prepared for you (Check the web site for yeast and hop availability).  Please be patient with us, if you send and e-mail don't ask to have it done right away; orders fulfilled on a first come first serve basis. We are working as fast as we can but there are delays of up to 48 hours.  We will e-mail you when your order is ready for pick up.  If you stop by the store it may take 30 to 45 minutes to put your order together.

Our self-serve is suspended until this crisis is over so no customers are allowed to roam free in the store.

We are asking everyone to make this simple self test before showing up at the store:

  1. Have you been in contact with someone that may be infected witch Covid 19 or sick.
  2. Do you have flu like symptoms (sore throat, cough, difficulty breathing).
  3. Are you in isolation (forced or voluntary).

If you answered yes to one of these questions, please DO NOT come to the store.  Place your order online.

Online Store

Our online store will remain open as long as we can have delivery services.  We still offer Canada Post and FedEx.  For those of you in the Ottawa area, we offer SM-Courrier which is very fast and cheaper that Canada Post and FedEx.  You can also place your order online and choose the "Pick up in store" option.  With the increased online orders and e-mail orders, we cannot guaranty that your order will ship the same day. It may take up to 48 hours to ship your order.  Please be patient with us in these trying times.

Last Words

Beer Grains has only 1.5 employees.  Athena is full-time at the store and Sylvain is only part-time (week-ends) with a couple of volunteers.  We are a couple so if one has to be isolated we both have to be isolated which means the retail and online store will close for 2 weeks.  So please help us stay healthy and don't come to the store if you are sick or been in contact with someone who is sick.

We will get through this

Athena and Sylvain
