This is the 3rd kit I've done from Beer Grains and they've all been great. This one is nice because Tankhouse is a great beer and being able to brew saves a bunch of money and gives people a chance to compare homebrew against something that's on the market. Like Cody said it's very close to the original, I might do a side by side tasting one of these days!

Easy to follow directions. Brewed this a month ago. Came out great! Not as clear as the real thing (I don't filter) but the taste and aroma are very close. The directions call for a small initial boil, but you can boil the full amount and not have to add water. Hit my OG easily. I will definitely be buying more of this kit in the future!
First "dark" beer
Posted by Unknown on 4th Nov 2014
I had the stereotype of dark beers being very strong and hard to drink as I am a new brewer (have around 8 brews under my belt) and this recipe was pretty good.
It has a complex toasted/coffee-like flavour. It is not too bitter, just enough.
I am looking forward to trying the all-grains recipe for this one!
Also, the packaging is really good, I am happy that I came across this site
