Description
Irish moss is a popular clarifying agent used in brewing beer. It's a type of seaweed (Chondrus crispus) that contains carrageenan, a gelatinous substance. When added to the boiling wort during the brewing process, Irish moss helps coagulate and settle proteins, tannins, and other haze-causing particles, resulting in a clearer beer. Typically, Irish moss is added to the boiling wort during the last 15 minutes of the boil. This allows it to interact with the proteins and other compounds that cause haze.
Use 1 teaspoon of Irish Moss in the last 15 minutes of the boil for a batch of 19 - 23 litres
