Midnight Wheat Malt - Briess - 22.7kg

Midnight wheat malt contributes the same colour characteristics as Black Malt but without the bitter, astringent, dry flavours or aftertaste. It finishes exceptionally clean and is the smoothest source of black colour of any malt. It is excellent in Black IPAs, Schwarzbiers, other dark ales and lagers, and for colour adjustment in any beer style.

Flavours and characteristics

Subtle, smooth, no bitter, astringent, dry flavours or aftertaste, starts slightly sweet, hints of roasted flavour.

Usage

• 1-2% will lend almost no flavour to lighter coloured beers while attaining a richer and slightly darker colour
• 2-5% will adjust the colour and lend a pleasant flavour
• 5-7%, a larger amount of the malt can influence the colour quite a bit and introduce roasted flavours to the beer
